The development of excellent writing skills is facilitated by the close relationship between the writing process and the 6 + 1 writing attributes. By the first sentence, you guessed it! Today I learned about the writing process and how they are perfectly interconnected with the 6 + 1 traits.
At first, I was a bit lost as to how both are connected for the mere fact that I didn't fully grasp what the 6 + 1 traits are and how easily they can be utilized during writing. Now, with my new knowledge on the topic, I can see how. It led me to realize that instead of viewing writing as a strenuous, tedious task, we as teachers as well as students can look at it as a means to foster creativity.
By, realizing just how well both writing guides are once combined, the quicker I came to realize how exciting I can make writing lessons. You may be wondering, what do I mean by this or how, right? Well, my light bulb moment was realizing that using the traits with the writing process can foster the different types of creativity each child possesses. So, instead of confining students to writing the same pieces on the same topics, students can choose the topics that spark their interests and still be graded the same way.
For example: Students can have fun publishing their work by creating amazing visuals as their presentations or when they rewrite and draft they can share their ideas amongst their peers and in return hear ideas from others.
In conclusion, I am excited to apply what I have learned to my kids in the classroom. assisting them in realizing the enjoyment that writing may bring when the writing method and the qualities are applied correctly. In doing so we can enhance their creativity, guide them to become effective communicators, improve their writing abilities, and produce high-quality work.
Stick and stay as I continue to learn so much more about writing.
